Things as the Memorials of
Miniƒters of State, as they
are many ways uƒeful and
very advantageous to the Publick, ƒo
they are of a Nature ƒo particular, as
to require ƒome neceƒƒary Explana-
tions on behalf of the Editor.
The Memiors here publiƒhed are of
this kind, the Writer, as is uƒual in
ƒuch caƒes, ƒpeaks in the firƒt Perƒon,
and treats the Characters of the Per-
ƒons he writes of, with a Freedom
which nothing can excuƒe.
It is the Editor's Opinion, that this
is no Reflection on the Gentlemen
named, nor is it publiƒhed with that
Intent. It is no new thing for the In-
ƒtruments of the Male-Adminiƒtration
of that Reign, to brand thoƒe who
